209 Generation

What Are We About?

The 209 Generation is a high school and college age ministry that focuses on relevant worship and applicable teaching of God’s Word.

Our Passion:  To witness students express an abandoned love for Jesus and genuine compassion for people.

Our Commission:  To provoke students to take hold of the Word of God and allow it to be animated through them; on their campuses and to the ends of the earth.

It is our desire for young people to be set ablaze for God and develop a genuine compassion for the lost.  We’ve established that many young people have become unmoved by today’s church, therefore, they’ve turned their hearts away from their Creator; falling away “from their first love” (Revelation 2:5 NLT).  Christ is calling us back, as the generation of TODAY, to our holy love and passion for peace, strength, purity, and satisfaction that can only be found in Him.  This homecoming will transpire when we lead young people to a face-to-face encounter with their Savior, and introducing them to the wild, untamed Jesus that desires “heart shattered lives ready for love” (Psalm 51:17 The Message).  Our hope is to introduce young people to Jesus and lead them into an abandoned pursuit of Him.

What is the 209 Generation?

This new generation of Christ followers is a generation bent on loving God and loving people.  God is calling out a generation of young people committed to bringing glory to His name.  We aspire to equip and mobilize the students of today for the purpose of reaching out to our local and global world.  So that “each generation can set its hope anew on God” (Psalm 78:7 NLT).  We believe God is calling us out for this purpose, in this moment, and for the glory of His name.

Though God has deliberately created all of us to be different in body, He has created us for the same purpose in spirit; to adore and celebrate Him.  Through this understanding we desire to bring high school and college students together to form the 209 Generation.  Students equipped and committed to declare God’s glory in their lives, on their campuses and to the ends of the earth.

In Jeremiah 20:9 we see an inner struggle taking place within Jeremiah the prophet: on one hand, Jeremiah desired to follow God’s command by calling for Israel’s repentance.  On the other hand, Jeremiah felt that this prophetic word was only bringing dishonor and disgrace on him and he felt this message to be ineffectual.  Jeremiah was feeling that all the words in the world couldn’t change a people that were so hell-bent against God.  Yet, withstanding the temptation to give up, Jeremiah could not keep this word to himself.  It was burning him up on the inside.  In the end, he desired to faithfully adhere to his work and depend on God to see him through.

Jeremiah was experiencing much of the same opposition and rejection that many young believers are experiencing today.  However, just as Jeremiah did, we must adhere to the command Jesus gave us “to find and restore the lost” (Luke 19:10 The Message).  We need a relevant and bold generation of Christ followers that are committed to this cause for the glory of our savior.  We believe it is the 209 Generation that will take up the call and follow Christ on their campuses and to the ends of the earth.
